Transportation

We cover emergency transportation only when it is used to get medical care and treatment for an emergency.  You do not need an approval from us ahead of time.

What is a covered service?

Non-emergency transports are covered by Medicaid and not West Virginia Family Health (WVFH).  An ambulance may be needed for non-emergency transport when medically necessary.  In this case, you will need an approval from the state DHHR ahead of time.

Limits

  • Transportation to the nearest hospital and by the most economical means.
  • Emergency transportation out-of-state requires prior approval.
